Grenfell Tower … We have no doubt that this tragic event could have been avoided had the block been fitted with automatic fire sprinklers

None of us will ever forget the scenes that were shown on our media following the tragic fire in Grenfell Tower in London. To date we still do not know the final death toll and perhaps we never will. How could this fire happen in one of the richest areas of London? This fire would have been shocking wherever it occurred, however the setting of West Central London brings home the true reality of fire in a multi-storey housing block in the UK. We have no doubt that this tragic event could have been avoided had the block been fitted with automatic fire sprinklers, sprinklers would have controlled or extinguished the initial fire preventing the subsequent spread to the exterior cladding.  READ MORE AT Sprinkler Retrofit Project

One Response to Grenfell Tower …We have no doubt that this tragic event could have been avoided had the block been fitted with automatic fire sprinklers

When I sat on the SIPs Repairs and Maintenance and Decent Homes and now known as Major Works, I requested many times for fire escapes to be placed outside the buildings and the response being “It would attract Anti Social Behaviour and that the tenants are to remain inside”. It just dripped off their lips.

    I disagree!

However, next time the fire alarm goes off in Northampton Borough Council (that also includes Councillors) and Northampton Partnership Homes maybe they too can practice what they preach and remain inside the building and not leave to the nearest safe fire point.

Will their be fire alarms installed in the buildings and what of those who have hearing/sight impediments and those who are Claustrophobic and have Agoraphobia.

In 2015 I experience an issue with PHJ, annual service of the gas, whereby, they had no PDA, no manual paperwork, but a clipboard and a plain piece of paper with lines (columns) drawn on it. “Where do you want me to sign” I asked. The response being that I didnt need to. And I watched him go his merry way to other tenants, I challenged this and it was 2016 before I received a printed copy and somebody had scrawled where my signature should be. Again I challenged this and I was then told by HT that the CP12s do not need signatures, scrawls are exceptable.
Maybe next time someone applies for a FOI it should include what was signed by the tenants and what was scrawled.

If we are not receiving printouts in that present day time, and after we have signed this via PDAs how do we know if the certificate is correct? And who does the surveys for them to remian in contract.

And WHY is there no annual testing of the electrics with a certificate?

“I’ve been told there were gas pipes fitted through the fire escapes. It’s just crazy.”
