I will return to the issue of the ‘Right to Buy’ scheme as the last council minutes record I stated then “housing stock was being diminished and that there was no economic sense in the Right to Buy Scheme”
Since the last council meeting the government have published the outturn numbers for 2015/16
Which show that Northampton sold 101 in that period and replaced nil
Taking the total sold since April 2012 to 332, the average receipts for them as been under £39k
Both Scotland and Wales have now put a stop to Right to Buy, perhaps England will follow them after the next election if some Labour Group members can desist from stabbing its current leader Jeremy Corbyn in the back
Norman Adams – July 2016
Mr Norman Adams addressed Council on Motion i) and stated that he supported the motion as the housing stock was being diminished and that there was no economic sense in the Right to Buy Scheme.
