Homes empty for more than two years, 23% of them are the councils

Powers under the 2012 Local Government Finance Act: give councils powers to charge an additional 50% council tax on homes that have been empty for more than two years.

 

When we look at the FACTS in Northampton we find that 23% of them are the councils own housing stock

FACT

  1. How many properties in the borough are currently subjected to this additional 50% in total = 167

2. How many of the total are the councils own property = 39

empty for more than two years January-December

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When we look at the FACTS in Northampton we find that the number of the council own property (managed by its housing ALMO Northampton Partnership Homes) empty for more than two years as gone up from 18 in January 2015 to 39 in December 2015.
