Survey reveals 89% of Universal Credit claimants in rent arrears

Since the roll out of Universal Credit (UC), nearly 90% of claimants have accumulated rent arrears, according to a recent survey.

The results, published on 17 December by the National Federation of ALMOs (NFA) and the Association of Retained Council Housing (ARCH) also show that 34% of claimants are subject to an alternative payment arrangement (APA) – meaning that they had accrued at least eight weeks of arrears
