Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP)
There may be trouble ahead
Will Northampton Borough Council (NBC) make up any shortfall from the General Fund or will it be raiding the housing revenue account (HRA) to keep providing discretionary housing payments?
Council Rents may have to fund welfare – nothing new there as our rents have been subsidising social and community spending for decades. Does anyone else share my fear that given the evidence it appears quite clear that the lunatics have taken over and continually demonstrate that they are quite clearly not fit for purpose……………..or maybe they were just lying all along because they simply don’t care and take us all for fools.
When the Toryphiles achieve their eradication of social tenure, who’s wallets will they go picking to avoid having to put their own little fat fingers in their tight pockets?
As so often before – you have been warned.
With the publication of the GOVERNMENT allocations for 2015/16 and knowing the spend in the first six-months 2014/15
It would indicate a large funding gap
Known allocation 2015/16 is £316,083
Known average spend per month 2014/15 was £51,169
All things being equally the government allocation will run out after 6 months
Question: Will NBC make up any shortfall from the General Fund or will it be raiding the housing revenue account (HRA) to keep providing discretionary housing payments? Or will it be a case of sink or swim for tenants
