Northampton to get £416,591 for DHP

The Department for Work and Pensions has revealed the discretionary housing payment allocations for councils in 2014/15.Northampton will get £416,591

As announced in the autumn statement in December, the DWP is making £165 million available in 2014/15 for DHPs – a hardship fund to help people with their housing costs administered by councils. The government announced in December the fund would be increased by £40 million in 2014/15. 

Of the £165 million, £40 is earmarked to mitigate the impact of local housing allowance reforms, £60 million for the bedroom tax, £45 million for the benefit cap and £20 million to help people with non-welfare reform related matters.
