£2.7m has been spent on adapting disabled peoples homes – now being told to move

I was talking to a registered blind person yesterday…. Who lives in a NBC two bed property, that has been adapted (at some cost) to help them live independently… they have now been told to down size or take the 14% hit.

Northants Disabled People Against Cuts make the following points:

We oppose the bedroom taxIn Northampton alone this year£2.7m has been spent on adapting disabled peoples homes and now forcing disabled People into other property is going to cost the taxpayer even more money. Alongside separating disabled people away from their families and friends through this stupid bedroom tax is cruel and undermines the very independence that Disabled People have been fighting for all our lives. If we include all the adaptations to properties for Disabled People across the county this will run into millions of wasted taxpayers money to save the governments stupid unfair and unjustified bedroom tax.

Better to bin it now
